About the Philips Norelco OneBlade Pro

Philips is a huge brand, and Norelco is their division that makes personal care products like electric razors.

Philips Norelco Oneblade Pro

The OneBlade Pro is an electric shaver with many length settings packed into a small package (13 total), and it comes at a modest price of around $40.

Here’s what you need to know about it before purchasing…

The Review

One of the big appeals of the OneBlade Pro is the length settings. Using it without the comb attachment will give you a pretty clean shave, but not as clean as a standard razor. I’d call it five o’clock shadow.

The blade is supposed to last a couple of months, but I use them for longer than that. When it does get dull, you simply buy a new blade.

If you want to keep some length to your facial hair, that’s where the comb attachment with 12 lengths comes in. It’s a clever design that’s easy to use.

The comb attachment has a rotating dial that you turn to your desired length setting. The lengths range from 0.5mm to 9mm.

The 0.5mm setting will do the trick if you like keeping stubble. The length settings are a really great feature, but it’d be nice to have an additional attachment with some longer-length options.

The longest setting is 9mm, which is a little more than 1/3rd of an inch. If you’re a guy who likes to keep a medium or long beard, this is not an electric shaver for you.

Another thing to note is that to get an even shave while using the comb attachment, you’ll need to shave the same spots multiple times. I will say I think this issue has to do with the general design of electric shavers and comb attachments rather than being a problem specific to the OneBlade Pro.

If you’re a guy who likes to keep a medium or long beard, this is not an electric shaver for you.

It’s not a perfect shaver, but here’s some more good news. This OneBlade Pro has a rechargeable battery. It fully charges very quickly (less than an hour), and I’ve used it multiple times without needing to recharge it.

The OneBlade Pro is also easy to clean. I’ve actually just brushed the hair off after using it, but the trimmer is water-resistant so you can wash it off as needed.

A note about the water resistance is that while I haven’t tested it in the shower (I’ve never been a shower shaver!), I’ve read multiple reviews of people saying that they use it in the shower. So I would assume it’s safe for shower usage.

The Philips Norelco OneBlade vs OneBlade Pro

You may have seen the Philips Norelco OneBlade and wondered if it’s worth upgrading to the OneBlade Pro. The answer is yes, it is worth upgrading.

Philips Norelco OneBlade
The original OneBlade is a great shaver, but it doesn’t compare to the OneBlade Pro.

I used the OneBlade for years before upgrading to the Pro, and I haven’t regretted it one bit.

The OneBlade Pro has 12 length settings from the comb attachment, while the regular OneBlade comes with three separate comb attachments that are a fixed length. The Pro offers nine more length settings. That alone makes it a steal!

Additionally, the battery lasts longer on the OneBlade Pro, and the real kicker is that the Pro costs less than $5 more than the standard OneBlade. It’s a huge upgrade for a nominal fee.

FAQs About the OneBlade

Here are the answers to some common questions about the OneBlade Pro.

What’s the Difference Between Philips OneBlade and OneBlade Pro?

The OneBlade Pro has nine more length settings and a better battery.

Is the Philips Norelco OneBlade Pro Good for Stubble?

Yes, if you use it without the comb attachment, you can have a five o’clock shadow. If you use the 0.5mm comb setting, you can have light stubble. Try out the different length settings if you want longer stubble or light beard.

Does the OneBlade Pro Give a Close Shave?

When used without the comb attachment, the OneBlade Pro gives you five o’clock shadow. It’s not as close as a standard razor, but it’s a pretty close shave.

Is the Philips Norelco OneBlade Pro Good for Pubic Hair?

The OneBlade Pro can definitely be used for body hair (including your hair down there), but make sure to use the comb attachment for sensitive areas. If you use the blade directly, you could end up getting cut.

My Recommendation

I definitely recommend this razor. It’s hard to ask for more from a $40 electric shaver. It has great battery life, 13 total length settings, and it’s water-resistant.

Long story short, this razor is great and is a very fair price.
