Nothing can be quite as convincing as charm. A man who has impeccable manners, talks smoothly, and has a pleasant and affable disposition seems to be like the ideal catch. However, beneath this veneer lies a different reality, one that will leave many appalled. These men use their charm and good manners to mask a reprehensible nature, one that makes them ill suited to take on the role of husband. They seem perfect until you tie the knot because then they begin to show their true colors. Read on and learn about the things that reveal a man isn’t husband material no matter how charming or well-mannered he seems to be.

Avoiding Accountability

He is the kind of man who will apologize profusely but will never make any actual attempt to change his ways. He always blames others and never takes accountability for his own mistakes. He is the kind of man who chooses to stay stuck in the psyche and mentality that he always had.

Treating Commitment Like It’s a Trap

He is the kind of person who treats marriage, planning, and long-term commitment like a joke. You can see that the very mention of these things makes him visibly uncomfortable. He chooses to withdraw and repel the notion of commitment because he can’t imagine being tied down or losing his freedom, at least that’s what it seems to him.

Respecting Only When It is Convenient

He is the kind of man who will respect you only when it is convenient or he needs something from you. The whole act vanishes when you find yourself in the midst of a disagreement with him. Then he will excessively use sarcasm, mocking, and denigration as his tools of choice to strip you of your dignity and self-confidence.

Can’t Handle Emotional Discomfort

He is the kind of man who instantly shuts down in the face of hard discussions. He will lash out or outright vanish from the scene. He is utterly lacking in emotional resilience and sensitivity, making him the worst choice possible as a husband.

Needing Constant Validation

He is the kind of man who thrives on praise and compliments. He cares a lot about his image and needs to be lauded and validated constantly to keep his self-confidence and image intact. The moment he is criticized, he finds it incredibly devastating and his insecurities start showing. This shows that he isn’t an emotionally mature or secure person.

Prioritizing Everyone Over His Partner

He is the kind of person who will prioritize everything, be it work, career, colleagues, family, hobbies, or even strangers, over you. For him, you don’t matter and neither do your values or feelings. That is why he treats you like an afterthought instead of a partner.

Avoiding Financial Responsibility

He is the kind of person who doesn’t have a plan in his life. He isn’t financially disciplined and has no interest in attaining stability in his life. Marriage can’t survive under such circumstances because it demands maturity and self-awareness from both spouses on a financial level, something that this kind of man is sorely lacking.

Belittling Serious Topics

He is the kind of man who actively eschews discussions about boundaries, values, or even plans regarding the future. He will act all nonchalant, unserious, and mocking in the face of these conversations. That is because all of these require effort, which he isn’t willing or capable of expending.

Playing the Victim

He is wont to playing the victim always and making others scapegoats for his mistakes. Even the smallest criticism makes him feel victimized, like you have wronged him somehow. He is utterly bereft of the attribute of self-reflection and bitterness is the constant state that you will always find him in.

Disrespecting Other Women

He is the kind of man who engages in the reprehensible and unbecoming act of disrespecting women. He will often disparage, mock, and denigrate the women he doesn’t want to or can’t impress with his words. This is a flaw in his character that immediately makes him unworthy of marriage or filling the role of husband.

Unable to Compromise

©Vitaly Gariev/unsplash.com

He is the kind of man who just can’t seem to compromise. He wants things to proceed in the way he wants them to; there is no alternative to it and no compromise that he would be willing to make. Marriage demands a person to be flexible and adaptive, not adamant and obstinate, and not to put his pride above everything else.

WIthholding Affection as Control

He is the kind of person who won’t balk at withholding affection and care when he doesn’t get what he wants. He will love you only under the condition that you comply and fulfill his wishes. Otherwise, he will act distant, indifferent, and extremely cold towards you.

Avoiding Growth

He is the kind of man who actively avoids growth in all forms. He obstinately asserts that he is fine just the way he is. He has no interest in enhancing his faculties, be they physical or mental. For him, growth and evolution are deplorable qualities, ones that he eschews at all costs.

Making His Partner Feel Small

He is the kind of man who never celebrates or praises your achievements. Even when you attain any victory or achievement, you will find him agitated and irritated. He minimizes your voice and your achievements because they intimidate him. He can never be a good husband because he isn’t capable of exhorting you or supporting you in any way. He acts as your competitor instead of an ally.

Relying on Niceness instead of Character

He is the kind of man who will overly rely on being charming and nice instead of being dependable. He possesses no integrity in his character, making any pretense of kindness that he puts on worthless and hollow.

Final Thought

It isn’t charm, good looks, or smooth talk that makes a man husband material. Rather, it is consistency, respect, and emotional maturity that make a man worthy of being a husband. So, look for these qualities before you tie the knot with someone instead of merely falling for their flowery words or superb countenance.
