Beckett Simonon is a brand known for making stylish, high-quality shoes. The Morgen Trainer is their take on the classic German Army Trainer (GAT). It looks great, but is it worth buying? That’s what this review aims to answer.
Quick Take
Beckett Simonon’s Morgen Trainer is a good-looking, comfortable, and high-quality shoe. At a price of around $160, it’s not cheap. However, the high-quality materials used and the shoe’s style and durability justify the price.
Pros

About Beckett Simonon
Beckett Simonon has an awesome mission. Long story short, they saw the flaws with how traditional shoe production and sales worked, so they decided to do things differently.
We believe in the power of well-made products which make you look and feel your best, even if you just want to take a walk. Products you can wear year after year, and repair rather than replace.
From the Beckett Simonon website
They sell made-to-order shoes using high-quality materials. Because the shoes are made to order, they can sell them for a fair price and save materials along the way.
Their website has the full story, and it’s worth reading.
Review of the Beckett Simonon Morgen Trainer
Let’s get to the review!
Quality and Comfort
The quality of these shoes is fantastic. They’re made from full-grain Italian leather, and they feel very durable.
You’ll find a pair of additional laces, an insertable insole, and black dust covers for each shoe in the box.
The dust covers are great if you’re traveling and need to pack the Morgen Trainers in your suitcase or duffel bag.
The Morgen Trainers are very comfortable. Even after wearing them all day, my feet aren’t sore. They offer good support without feeling overly cushiony.
While the inside has just enough cushioning, the outside feels smooth and strong.
Style
The Morgen Trainers really capture the classic 70s German Army Trainer look. GAT’s are minimal but have a unique design that makes them stand out a little more than standard minimal
Because they’re a minimal sneaker, you can wear them with pretty much anything. Jeans, chinos, and khakis all look great with these shoes.
They are casual shoes so I wouldn’t recommend wearing them with a suit, but they look perfect with most casual outfits.
If you’re wearing them with shorts, it’s a good idea to wear no-show socks for a clean look.
