BD Wong’s full name is Bradley Darryl Wong. He was born on October 4, 1960, in San Francisco, California. As a young man, he was always interested in the performing arts.

Wong began working as an actor in the early 1980s. He has been honing his craft for a very long time. BD Wong remains a star of the stage and screen at the age of 59. There’s no sign of slowing down for this talented man.

How Tall Is BD Wong?

BD Wong is 5’5″. At five-foot-five, he’s one of the shortest actors around. But he’s not alone. Josh Hutcherson and David Spade are also 5’5″.

What Are His Movies and TV Shows?

BD Wong is best known for his recurring role on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. From 2011 to 2015, he played Dr. George Huang. Wong has also appeared on other TV shows like Mr. Robot (2015-2019) and Gotham (2016-2019).

Prior to those roles, he played Father Ray Mukada on HBO’s Oz (1997-2003) and Dr. Stuart Kim on All-American Girl (1994-1995).

In addition to his television roles, Wong has lent his voice to movies too.

In 1998, he voiced Shang in Disney’s Mulan. BD Wong reprised his Shang voice for the Mulan sequel as well as the Kingdom Hearts Video Game. He starred as Dr. Henry Wu in both the 1993 and 2015 Jurassic Park films. His first film role was The Karate Kid Part II (1986).

In 2016, BD Wong spoke about his work on Jurassic Park and Mr. Robot with GQ. Inside, he also gives an expert demonstration on how to properly eat a chicken wing.

Before he got started in Hollywood, BD Wong worked on Broadway. In 1988, he won a Tony Award for his work in M. Butterfly.

Currently, Wong continues to portray Whiterose on Mr. Robot. He’s also in pre-production for the TV series Awkwafina, where he plays the protagonist’s father.

Is BD Wong Married?

Yes, BD Wong is married. As an out gay man, he has a husband. Wong married Richert Schnorr last fall. The two met in 2010. They live in New York City. Schnorr is a digital marketing director for the New York Public Library.

It looks like the couple may have made a big purchase recently. According to Variety, BD Wong purchased a Brooklyn Heights Duplex for $1.25 Million.

Does he have a son?

Prior to his marriage to Schnorr, BD Wong was in a long-term relationship with Richie Jackson from 1998-2004. The couple had twin sons via surrogate in 2000. But one of the infants, Boaz Doz, died shortly after birth.

Jackson and Wong continue to co-parent their surviving son, Jackson Foo Wong. In 2003, BD Wong wrote a memoir about his experience with surrogacy and loss as a gay man. The book is titled Following Foo: the Electronic Adventures of the Chestnut Man.

Jackson Foo Wong grew up spending time between both of his fathers’ homes in New York City since they shared joint custody.

BD Wong’s Net Worth

According to Forbes magazine, Wong’s net worth is an estimated $8 Million.

What’s his nationality?

He was born in San Francisco, CA to Chinese parents who are originally from Hong Kong. BD Wong is sometimes referred to as a Chinese-American actor.

In 2018, he discussed the difficulty in finding lead roles as an Asian-American in an interview with GQ. He confessed he is resigned to playing supporting roles because that’s what he’s been offered his entire 30-year career.

His Personal Style

Though he may specialize in minor characters, BD Wong is a red carpet style star. He frequently takes fashion risks like deploying short suits and floral embroidery at promotional events.

Mr. Wong isn’t afraid of color, pattern, or mixing prints. He seems to really enjoy vests. If you want to know how to rock one as a modest man, check out our post about three-piece suits.

We suspect BD Wong skips the jacket so he doesn’t have to worry about sleeve length. It’s certainly one of the reasons we love vests at TMM.

What do you think of BD Wong’s red carpet style? Does he pull off the bold choices? In any case, Wong is another prime example of a man of modest height succeeding in his career and life.

Nationality is different from ethnicity. His nationality is simply American, as he was born in the US and is a citizen, no race qualifier. His ETHNICITY is Chinese.
