Some men are emotional avoidants. They are scared of broaching uncomfortable topics, which leads them to pull out of a relationship unannounced, leaving their partner hanging in uncertainty.

An emotionally intelligent man is an emotionally present man. A man who lacks maturity will abandon their partner, leaving them questioning their worth. A real man would never hurt anyone with their indifference.

They Were Not Simply Interested

Many times, men date online as a habit and a pastime. With their love-filled texts and calls, you become more attached to him, but as for him? He was not emotionally invested in the relationship to begin with. So, it’s easy for him to move on, with no emotional baggage attached. This is why ghosting feels like a stake through your heart, while he escapes with no emotions or heartache involved.

They Are Unsure About The Direction

He may not be an all-out evil person at all, but if he lacks a sense of direction about his love life, he may abandon you midway, leaving you wondering what went wrong. Remind yourself, this was never about you; it was always his emotional uncertainty that led to this fate.

Men who ghost are usually overwhelmed when things move forward too quickly in a relationship, and they end up leaving it like an unfinished project, to which they have no intention to return. They are unable to keep pace with the momentum at which the relationship is developing.

They Have Found Someone New In Their Life

They may have already moved on from you. They may have stumbled upon someone new, and blocking you out of the way was the only option to get rid of you. This type of ghosting is tantamount to cheating, and the grief that comes with it is hard to overcome as you keep thinking that you were not enough for them.

They Have Poor Communication Skills

Some men may outgrow their interest in you, and due to poor communication skills, they see ghosting as a convenient option. Talking to you directly about ending things would have been difficult for them, so they chose the easy path.

They Want To Dominate

They are controlling by disposition and want to tilt the power dynamics of the relationship in their favor. They do this by making you feel their absence intensely and crave their partnership even if that means begging them to return. Your helplessness fans their ego.

They Lack Accountability

As a way to protect themselves, they create an illusion where ghosting appears to them as their way of proving to you that they never existed, so their absence should not matter at all. They are just too arrogant to hold themselves accountable for the emotional pain ghosting inflicts on their partner, so they justify it in their mind with this self-explanation.

They Are Emotionally Unavailable

Men who are not emotionally invested in their relationships seek escape from serious commitment as soon as things seem to be advancing towards serious commitment. Ghosting is their favorite way to unilaterally check out of the relationship.

They Have Personal Struggles

Maybe their disappearance had nothing remotely to do with you. They could be fighting silent struggles within them, like anxiety, depression, or some family problems, and they just didn’t want the effects to spill over into their relationship.

They Want To Reset

To keep the door open to new and more compatible dating options, they may see ghosting you as a reset button. They have no regard for your feelings that will follow, so they go ahead with abandoning you with no contrition.

They Think Ghosting Is A Sign Of Closure

Men assume that by cutting you off, they are quietly sending you a message of closure. They feel you would pick up on his cues and move on with just as much ease as he did.

They Are Disrespectful

The men who ghost are usually lacking in character. They have no respect for people’s feelings and boundaries. To them, you were just another person he could conveniently move past, not the love of his life.

They Are Scared Of Abandonment

On the surface, it may look like they rejected you, but the reality is quite contradictory; such men are themselves afraid of rejection. To evade the possibility of being abandoned, they make the first move to escape from facing their fear.

They Are Not in For Serious Commitment

When you feel things are heading towards a serious commitment, they may get cold feet. They are scared of being in a long-term relationship, so they resort to ghosting as a means to avoid responsibility.

Final Thoughts

If someone leaves you stranded at a point where you’re unsure whether to move forward or wait for them to return, then know it, this is your sign to gather yourself and move on. Bear in mind that this act of betrayal does not indicate that you lack in anything, but it clearly shows the man’s own limitations and personality flaws. A man who is meant for you will be emotionally safe, not scared of confrontation, and he won’t dump you halfway, and even if things don’t work out, he will seek closure rather than an abrupt, uncertain ending.
