If You Have These 15 Gut Feelings, Don’t Trust Your Partner

It is a fact that human intuition can often pick up on things that the mind is incapable of understanding completely. It is important to not give in and jump to conclusions over the smallest doubt that the instincts paint as suspicious. However, if your gut remains persistently troubled over some particular issue, then perhaps you should listen to it and dig deeper. When something always feels a bit “off,” then it might be a sign that something is actually wrong. You should then pay attention to what your instincts tell you, particularly when those feelings of unease and mistrust are related to your partner. Read on and learn about the gut feelings that might be warning you to not completely trust your partner right here.

You Feel Like Something is Being Hidden

If you always feel like your partner isn’t being forthcoming with everything and is withholding information, be it about their daily routine, their phone, plans, and so on, then your instincts might just be responding to the subtle inconsistencies that it is registering.

Their Stories Don’t Quite Add Up

You should listen to your gut if you start noticing small inconsistencies and contradictions with what your partner says. The uneasy feeling in your gut is absolutely justified if your partner keeps changing their explanations every time they narrate them to you.

You Feel Uneasy When They Use Their Phone

You should dig deeper when you experience dread while seeing them acting all protective and furtive with their phone. If they lock their phone, put it screen down, close apps quickly, or even change the lock when you are near, then it is a sign that something unbecoming is brewing behind the scenes.

Your Concerns are Always Dismissed

You should be on your guard when your partner gets visibly uncomfortable when you ask questions of them or they brush them off and label your anxiety as overreacting. A partner who mocks your discomfort and accuses you of being excessively sensitive must have something to hide from you.

It is a sign that there might be something wrong with your relationship when you constantly have to worry about how your partner will react to being questioned about certain things. They make you feel like you should be incredibly calculated in your approach instead of deriving a sense of safety and comfort from them.

Something Feels Too Perfect

Sometimes your partner tries too hard. They might be all charming, happy, and gracious and will shower you with praise and compliments out of nowhere. This might be nothing more than contrivance, where they are presenting a carefully curated version of themself to assuage any misgivings or anxiety that you might be experiencing concerning them.

You Feel Guilty for Asking Normal Questions

There might be something seriously wrong with your partner if they make you feel incredibly guilty for asking the most common and innocuous of questions of them. They will react defensively, sometimes frigidly or explosively, when asked about their daily plans or schedules, showing that there is something amiss with them and that something undesirable is unfolding behind the scenes with them.

Their Words and Actions Don’t Match

Your partner might say all the right things, but their behavior won’t be congruent with them. With time, this disparity creates a lasting sense of doubt in your relationship, one that never abates no matter how much you struggle or try to ignore it.

You Feel Drained After Interacting with Them

You should be on your guard if you feel like every interaction with your partner leaves you feeling emotionally drained and exhausted. A partner is supposed to make you feel exhorted, supported, and emotionally strong, and someone who doesn’t do that is probably engaged in something reprehensible and surreptitious behind your back.

You Sense They are Different Around Other People

You can immediately notice that things aren’t what they seem when your partner acts very differently around friends, colleagues, and even the strangers they meet outside than they do with you. It seems as if they are playing two different roles, an indicator of their potentially duplicitous nature and conduct.

Your Instincts Tell You They are Not Being Honest

Even when you don’t have any palpable or tangible evidence of their dishonesty, your gut still keeps screaming at you that your partner is withholding information and not showing the full picture to you. A partner who is engaged in infidelity or any other pernicious behavior will strive to keep the truth from you, a flaw that your gut perceives before your mind does.

You Feel Like You are Being Manipulated

It is a sign that your partner isn’t a good person if they make you feel manipulated and confused with each discussion. They will actively gaslight you, alter details of past events to suit themselves, and make you doubt your own memory.

You Notice Sudden Changes in Behavior

Your gut takes it as a sign of infidelity or misconduct on the part of your partner when their behavior changes suddenly and inexplicably. Their habits, routines, and even patterns of communication change dynamically without any clear reason or explanation, and that totally justifies your raised eyebrows and calculated suspicion.

You Feel Like You are Always the One Trying

You are left with being the one who initiates conversations, resolves conflicts, and is heaped with everything related to maintaining your relationship. At the same time, while you are profoundly invested in your relationship, your partner will be emotionally absent and distant, showing that either they have lost interest or are engaged in something unscrupulous that entails disastrous ramifications for the relationship.

Your Peace of Mind Has Disappeared

Perhaps the most potent indicator of them all is that no matter what you do, you simply don’t feel at peace, calm, or safe in your relationship. When the sense of trust and security leaves a relationship, then it is a sign that it has run its course.

Final Thoughts

Gut feelings don’t constitute immediate grounds for accusations to be made but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored completely. Intuition is usually built from small observations that the mind collects as time goes by. When many of these feelings keep appearing, then they might be a sign for you to start looking deeper into your relationship’s health and overall integrity.
