Is Aventus the Best-Smelling Cologne Ever Made?
Maybe. It was launched in 2010 by Olivier and Erwin Creed, the sixth and seventh generations of the Creed perfume dynasty – and has since become an extraordinary best-seller. Women fall in love with it. Men swear by it.
There is something about Aventus that is both hypnotizing and addictive. Once you try it, you will be hooked. It is an expensive fragrance, but well worth it because it will instantly become your favorite. When you wear Aventus, you will be noticed as soon as you walk into a room. Heads will turn.
Aventus is a masculine scent, oozing success and luxury. It has excellent sillage and longevity, lasting for 10-12 hours.
Top notes of this stunning masterpiece include pineapple, apple, bergamot, and blackcurrant leaf; heart notes include birch, jasmine, juniper berry, patchouli and rose, and base notes are oakmoss, ambergris, musk and vanilla.
Aventus is the most successful of the Creed colognes, by far. It is masterpiece of construction that exceeds expectations every time and is one of the truly great men’s fragrances on the market. Wear it any time you like, quite frankly.

9 Best Creed Colognes
Here are our top picks:
Creed Imperial Millesime
Creed Imperial Millesime is probably one of the better-known Creed fragrances after Aventus. It is a unisex fragrance with a clean, fresh fragrance combined with a hint of musk. It was produced in 1995 and is still a classic.
Top notes include fruit and sea salt; middle notes are Sicilian lemon bergamot, iris and mandarin orange; base notes are sea notes, musk and wood notes.
Creed Imperial Millesime is light and versatile, so you can wear it during the day without offending anyone.
Creed Tabarome Millesime
On a more exotic note, Creed Tabarome Millesime is a bold fragrance combining notes of tobacco and leather for stronger, more assertive appeal, reminiscent of a snooty British men’s club. Indeed, it was originally created for a well-known Brit. with a fondness for cigars and brandy.
Top notes are bergamot and tangerine; middle note is ginger and base notes are tobacco, leather, sandalwood, ambergris and patchouli.
Wear it on special occasions, for clubbing and nights out on the town.
Creed Green Irish Tweed Millesime
This fragrance dates back to 1985 but is still a classic. It has the woodsy, Irish freshness many men love. It is an elegant, masculine scent, and although it is distinctive, Creed Green Irish Tweed Millesime is not overpowering, so you can wear it both during the day and at night.
Top notes are lemon verbena and iris: middle note is violet leaf and base notes are ambergris and sandalwood.
Splash it on in Spring, wearing your green Irish tweeds to complete the effect. Oh Danny Boy!
Creed Royal Water
This is a fresh, energetic cologne with notes of citrus and peppermint. It was launched in 1997 and opens with a sharpish citrus tang with mint, settling back into juniper and basil to musk and ambergris. It wears well and is refreshingly cool.
This fragrance has a classic, vintage vibe, which you can wear during the day. It is also good to spritz on in warmer weather.
Creed Original Vetiver Millesime
Creed Original Vetiver Millesime is a re-invention of the traditional vetiver fragrance. It contains the root, leaves and heart of the vetiver plant, hence its depth.
Top notes are bergamot, bitter orange and mandarin; middle notes are pink berry, white pepper and coriander; base notes are vetiver, sandalwood, ambergris and musk. It is fresh, invigorating and alluring.
A comparatively light, yet lingering fragrance, this one is good for Spring, Fall and early Summer. Good for the office too.
Creed Virgin Island Water Eau De Parfum
“Put de lime in de coconut…”- Harry Nilsson
This is a unisex fragrance – but don’t hold that against it. Creed Virgin Island Water is all about hot summers lying on a beach. It is relaxed and causal with the scents of summer citrus, lime and coconut.
Top notes are coconut, lime, bergamot, mandarin; middle notes are ginger, ylang-ylang, jasmine and hibiscus; base notes are white rum, sugar cane and musk. It’s for those who love the fragrance of suntan lotion.
Chill out with this one during the dog days of summer, drink in hand.
Creed Royal Oud Cologne
It was bound to happen. It seems every perfume house has an oud fragrance, so why not Creed? Creed Royal Oud Cologne was launched in 2011 and is in the woody, spicy scent category.
Top notes include ginger, pinkberry, and bergamot. The middle notes include cedar, galbanum, and angelic root; base consists of Indian oud, sandalwood, and Tonkin musk.
It is elegant, classic and wearable, particularly on special occasions. A gentleman’s fragrance for sure.
Creed Bois du Portugal
This fragrance was launched back in 1987 but stands the test of time. It has a fresh opening with a note of bergamot, yet a woody, vintage finish.
Creed Bois du Portugal is rich, warm and mature, for the man who is comfortable with himself. Top note is bergamot; middle note is lavender; base notes are sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and ambergris.
Versatile enough to wear straight from the office to the bar.
Creed Silver Mountain Water
In contrast, Creed Silver Mountain Water evokes thoughts of snowy mountain streams and fresh water. Olivier Creed is actually a champion skier as well as a master parfumier, and this fragrance echoes his sporting side.
Top notes are bergamot and mandarin orange; middle notes are green tea and black currant; base notes are musk, petitgrain, sandalwood and galbanum.
When Should You Wear Creed Fragrances?
When you’re skiing black diamonds in Gstaad, of course – or just wishing you were.
Creed fragrances are among the most expensive on the market – but for a good reason. They are well constructed and contain the highest quality ingredients, sourced from all over the world.
To our mind they are well worth it.
