What men, and even the women, don’t realize is that they make these comments usually inadvertently, without even knowing the adverse connotations they evince. These phrases seem utterly innocuous to women but carry devastating implications for men. They signal disinterest, dishonesty, disrespect, and even emotional risk to men. Read on and learn about these phrases that men find deplorable and repulsive right here.

You are Too Sensitive

Men struggle a lot when it comes to expressing their emotions and feelings openly. When they hear this comment, it makes them shut down emotionally and become even more guarded afterwards. They feel judged for being open and communicative and refrain from doing so ever again.

My Ex Used to….

This one might not be intentional but it still ends up comparing one man to another and that is something no man likes: being made to feel incompetent or inadequate in comparison to another man. It makes him feel like he can’t win, no matter what he does, and that kills all chances for a connection forming between two people instantly.

I Don’t Need a Man

Independence is something that men find attractive, but in moderate and tolerable amounts. But when a woman inadvertently says these words, then he finds them dismissive. It shows to him that she doesn’t need any companionship and has no place in her life for him and what he brings to it.

Whatever. Do What You Want

This one might seem harmless to women, but it carries intensely negative messages for men. They perceive it as emotional punishment or repressed anger on her part. It makes men hesitant to approach them because they fear that she might respond with intense drama, a development that men abhor and actively eschew.

Why Aren’t You Like Other Guys?

This phrase is an instant connection killer. It signals to a man that no matter how much he struggles or how diligently he puts in the effort towards all pertinent aspects of the relationship, he will never be enough. That kills attraction faster than anything for men.

I Am Bored

This phrase might seem innocent but men perceive it quite differently. They think, upon hearing it, that they probably aren’t exciting or interesting enough. It sounds to them like no matter how much they strive, it still won’t be enough to stimulate and energize her and that is an instant interest killer for men.

You Should Know What I Want

It is incredibly frustrating for men to be expected to be mind readers by women. Men are simple creatures and rely on direct, clear, and legible communication to get the job done. When women act all enigmatic and speak cryptically, expecting them to read their minds, then it immediately kills all attraction in their minds for them.

This is Why I Don’t Date

This phrase might not seem like much to women, but for men, it sounds like she is blaming his entire gender as being the problem. It makes a man feel judged even before he has been afforded the chance to show his mettle. He feels like he has failed in a test that he hasn’t even attempted yet and that is downright irritating for them.

I Don’t Trust Anyone

This phrase is understandable, because after all there are many people out there who are jaded and take life and all the interactions it evinces with a grain of salt. But to a man, when a woman says it, it signals emotional barriers and walls, ones that he believes he won’t be able to pierce no matter how much he struggles. So, he just abandons the pursuit and gives up.

You are Lucky I Even Gave You a Chance

This phrase might be uttered as a joke, or probably not; who can tell? Either way you see it, it sounds incredibly arrogant and reeks of vanity. Men lose interest immediately upon hearing this phrase because it makes them feel belittled.

Men Always Mess Things Up

It isn’t a good idea to say this to a man whom a woman is intending to date and keep around. That is because this phrase generalizes all men and brings them onto a single pedestal of judgment. The latter is based on past experiences and the way that older exes burned them, leaving these women jaded and mistrustful of men in general. However, that doesn’t mean that the guy sitting across from her has to pay for the mistakes of someone from her past.

My Friends Said You are Not My Type

A man perceives a woman as dependent and completely dominated by her friends from this phrase. It makes him feel like her life is dictated by her friends and he doesn’t like being judged by her circle of friends. He isn’t auditioning for a spot on a reality show and this phrase immediately puts him off.

I Hate Clingy Guys

This phrase is often said casually by women but it is interpreted differently by men. They see it as a signal from their side that they should dial back on the affection. This phrase is interpreted by men as them being too caring and open with their affection and consideration. So, they choose to withdraw emotionally from her and bottle up their feelings.

I Am Not Looking for Anything Serious, But Don’t Talk to Other Girls

This phrase oozes ambiguity and carries considerable mixed signals. Men find such signals very draining and thrive on clarity. They look for the latter and are repulsed by contradictory statements, such as this one.

It is Fine

This phrase seems innocent, but it clearly isn’t. Men find it to be very confusing and stressful and they back away immediately upon hearing it. It is because they don’t want to be caught in the middle of an emotional blast and suffer the chaotic fallout that it entails.

Final Thoughts

Most of these statements aren’t uttered with bad intentions. Women usually say these words accidentally, out of frustration, insecurity, or even habit. But men still find these statements confusing and move away immediately upon hearing them because they perceive and interpret them differently.
