Love doesn’t vanish from a marriage instantly; it takes time and years upon years of neglect, emotional abuse, intolerance, and distancing before it finally happens. The moment resentment sets into a marriage, things start deteriorating gradually. It is imperceptible to the naked eye or the perfunctory senses, but surely and silently this breakdown progresses until it culminates in the utter and irreversible devastation of a marriage. Many wives start showing signs of withdrawal from their husbands and their marriages via specific behaviors. The latter are indicative of them having grown weary of their marriages and having lost all faith and investment, emotional and physical, in their marriages. Read on and learn about these behaviors right here.

No Longer Sharing Little Things

A clear indicator of a woman’s withdrawal from her marriage is when she stops sharing the finer details of her everyday life, her thoughts, and even opinions with her husband. Emotional intimacy erodes and its absence is only felt after it’s long gone.

Conversations Become Practical

Conversations between a couple that has lost all connection tend to become strictly practical. Topics of conversation revolve around bills, chores, kids, and schedules, and aside from these, there is no discussion between them at all. There is no more personal or emotional discussions to be found anymore.

Avoiding Physical Affection

It is a clear sign that a woman has lost all love and affection for her husband when she ceases all attempts at initiating or maintaining physical affection. No longer does she hug him or kiss him spontaneously, and she even pulls away when he tries to initiate any kind of physical contact.

No More Arguments

There was a time when she considered the relationship worth saving and so she argued, repeatedly, to mend things and mitigate the chaos that raged around her and her husband. Now, she has simply given up and stopped arguing altogether. For many, this is the point the marriage starts dying and having lost its appeal altogether.

Criticizing More than She Appreciates

A woman who starts griping more about the small flaws and complains incessantly shows a lack of interest and investment in her marriage. She has had enough of being unnoticed and ignored and considers the marriage beyond saving. That is why criticism replaces the praise and lauding that she once extended towards her spouse.

Spending More Time Away from Home

A woman who has grown exhausted with her marriage and husband will try to find any excuse possible to stay out of home. She will cite work, errands, hanging out with friends, and even alone time as the reasons for staying out of home.

No More Asking for Reassurance

Women want to be reassured from time to time about the integrity and soundness of their relationship and whether love still exists between them and their spouse. But when she loses all faith in her marriage, love is the first thing to vanish, followed by the need for validation and reassurance from her spouse.

Emotionally Flat Tone

A woman’s voice and tone become increasingly flat and bereft of all emotion and warmth. She instead becomes more polite and eventually cold, detached, and blunt in her exchanges with her husband, signaling a loss of love and trust in the marriage.

Making Decisions Alone

It is a clear indicator of a woman having lost all faith in marriage when she starts making all decisions and choices alone. She no longer bothers to include him in any of her decisions and even consciously eschews his input concerning any matter. This shows that she has become emotionally independent and no longer considers the opinion or presence of her spouse necessary.

Comparisons with Others

A woman who has lost all love and affection for her husband will start comparing him with others. Directly or indirectly, she will make a point of comparing his qualities, potential, ambitions, and overall personality with other men like her father, friends’ husbands, colleagues, and even celebrities. This shows that she considers her man to be inadequate and feels like improvements can and should be made for she is done with the version that she’s currently residing with.

No More Future Planning

Another sign is when she completely stops planning a future together with her husband. She no longer plans long-term with her spouse because she simply can’t see an outcome where they are still together several years down the line.

Withdrawal During Vulnerable Moments

It is normal for a woman to turn towards her husband when the going gets tough. However, for one who has lost all faith, connection, and interest in the relationship, the only path left is to face inwards. A woman who doesn’t feel like her marriage is salvageable will resort to introspection and silence instead of reaching out to her husband.

No Longer Trying to be Understood

She no longer makes any efforts to be understood by her husband when she stops caring about her marriage. She avoids explaining her feelings and avoids talking about them with her husband. She also no longer makes any attempts to be understood by him and lets things linger as they are, unresolved and unaddressed.

Mentally Checking Out

A woman tends to check out emotionally and mentally despite being physically present in her marriage. She will spend her time being glued to screens and simply being distant and silent, choosing to let silence set in where there was once rapport and communication.

Feeling Relieved When He’s Not Around

This is probably the most painful sign: when she starts feeling cheerful and relieved when her husband isn’t around. It is also the clearest indication that a marriage has run its course and is headed for tacit and inevitable destruction.

Final Thoughts

These changes in a woman’s behavior don’t mean that she has grown cold or heartless. Rather, it signals unresolved resentment, emotional exhaustion, and being fed up with feeling unheard and unseen up till now. These behaviors manifest when a woman silently initiates the process of backing out of her marriage.
