Men don’t let their wives know but they still crave validation after getting married. They long to be lauded and complimented by their wives. They might not confess it or openly ask for praise, but it makes them feel amazing when their wives see and appreciate them.

Fearing Failure

Every man dreads failing at his role of husband or provider. This is a fear that constantly stings in their innards and leaves them anxious and on edge. He wants to provide the best for his wife and children and never lets it slip how much the possibility of failing at this task terrorizes him.

Men don’t want their wives to know but they find the prospect of effectively communicating their emotions to be an immensely arduous and intricate task. They constantly fear failing in this regard and don’t want their wives to know that they haven’t quite mastered the knack for connecting emotionally, despite being married.

Feeling Unappreciated

There comes a time when every husband starts feeling unappreciated in his marriage. It might be one or two or several instances, but he still represses his resentment and doesn’t express his disappointment openly. This disquiet eats away at him but he chooses to remain silent for the sake of his marriage and the bond that he shares with his wife.

Missing Independence

Men might not say it but they absolutely miss the independence that they had before being married. They miss the boys’ nights out, the partying, the spontaneous gaming sessions, and just being their own men. Now, they are content but those nostalgic feelings still bubble to the surface sporadically. Still, they don’t profess these thoughts to their wives.

Wanting Affection

Sex is great and all for men, and they thrive on it. But deeper down, all men want to be loved. They want to be hugged all of a sudden, lightly kissed when they least expect it, and be reassured that they are loved and seen. For men, that is the real thing, the one that keeps them going strong and firmly.

Feeling Invisible

Men start to feel invisible at home sometimes. This can be owed to the added pressures and responsibilities of caring for their kids, completing household chores, and managing everything. He starts feeling more like a utility than a partner but he keeps his objections bottled up, as he doesn’t want to appear needy.

Carrying Old Insecurities

Men remember and keep old insecurities in their hearts, even the ones that go back to their childhood. They just don’t openly voice them and instead choose to remain silent and use humor, silence, and even distractions as a means of coping with them.

Getting Hurt By Their Wife’s Words

Men might not show it but certain words from their wives tend to sting profoundly more than they let on. A simple remark that undermines their contribution to the household might seem harmless to wives, but it leaves a strong and indelible mark on their husbands’ minds. It also lingers on for years and doesn’t dissipate.

Comparisons

Men don’t like it when their wives compare them to their friends’ husbands. Men can tolerate almost anything but not when they are made to feel inadequate and incompetent through these comparisons. They don’t voice their outrage but inside they are seething with anger and resentment over these comparisons.

Feelings of Not Being Desired

Men want to be desired and wanted by their wives. However, they quietly endure when they don’t feel as desired as they wish they were by their wives. Men carry this pain silently in their heart until it transforms into bitterness and resentment.

Hiding Their Stress

Men quietly endure the stress that they are experiencing from their wives for fear of worrying them. He silently wrestles with financial issues, hurdles in his job, and any other predicament in his life privately. It is done out of a desire to protect his family but it takes a huge emotional toll on him.

Wanting Praise for What They Do Right

Men want to be praised and appreciated for the things that they get or do right in their marriage. The moment they hear their wives’ affirmation and words of encouragement is unforgettable for them. It brings them immense joy and enhances their resolve to love and provide for their family to far greater levels.

Fantasizing About a Different Life

Men don’t let their wives know but they sometimes fantasize about living a different life. It might not necessarily be with another partner but they will still imagine a life where everything was different. A different career, a road not trodden upon, a pursuit that he had initially missed out on and so forth, those are the trajectories along which a man visualizes a different life.

Staying Silent During Arguments

Many men choose to remain silent during arguments because they feel like they are outmatched. They don’t want to say anything that might damage their relationship and instead of giving into their emotions, they choose to shut down. They do this to prevent things from exacerbating.

Loving Their Wives Deeply

Men can’t express the depths, the profundity, and the unbridled passion with which they love their wives. It is something that they can’t put into words or express openly. They want to be the protector, lover, and provider for their wives, but they can’t translate this intent into intelligible words, and this exasperates them constantly.

Final Thoughts

Married men aren’t emotionless but rather they keep their emotions to themselves. They don’t let their emotions run amok and certainly don’t let their wives know about the deeper, more private thoughts that linger in their minds. It is done out of love and a desire to keep their marriage strong.
