Never Taking Emotional Responsibility

When one partner refuses to acknowledge the impact that their actions or words have on the other one in their marriage, then it starts to affect love adversely. It makes it impossible for love and affection to survive under such conditions. Many divorced women report that they felt like they were always managing their husbands’ emotional needs while completely ignoring their own.

Turning Everything into a Competition

These women reported that most of the time, their husbands treated them like rivals instead of partners. They always kept track of everything that they did, be it financially, physically, domestically, and so forth. This made it difficult for these women to continue loving their husbands in a marriage that had lost all collaboration and cohesion for them.

Believing Affection was Optional

A marriage bereft of warmth and cordiality begins to feel like a business contract. These women report husbands who didn’t give affection, didn’t accord intimacy, and offered no physical reassurance when they needed it.

Forced Communication

These women report that their husbands simply shut down at times and stopped communicating altogether. This caused problems to accumulate in their relationships, which in turn laid the grounds for intense resentment to manifest. The silence replaced communication and honest discussions and eventually, these women checked out of their marriages.

Having Outdated Expectations

These men had anachronistic expectations when it came to their wives. They wanted her to cook, clean, maintain the household, look after their needs, and so on. However, they never took them as equal partners that were worthy of respecting or supporting. This constant treatment led these women to fall out of love with their husbands pretty fast.

Never Apologizing

These men never apologized to their wives, even when they were vividly the ones to blame. They refused to take accountability and always deflected blame and avoided the hard conversations. This drained all emotional connection in the marriage till it was rendered hollow and cold.

Expecting Their Wives to Fix Them

These men were wont to place all the burden of keeping him sane and collected emotionally, happy, and motivated towards growth on their wives. They were constantly badgered to act like their motivational speakers while giving no incentive or passion to them in return. This exhausted these women till they finally opted for divorce.

Confusing Love with Control

These men monitored every single aspect of their wives’ lives under the guise of love. They checked her phone, acted jealously, constantly monitored her movements, and tried to gaslight them into believing that they were doing this out of a profound sense of love. The truth is, they were suffocating their wives with their controlling behavior.

Making Promises that They Never Kept

These women report that their ex-husbands never followed through on the promises they made to them, small or big. This gradually started to drain the love and trust that their wives had in them, till there was eventually nothing left to give to the relationship in these regards.

Stopped Trying At All

These men struggled hard to woo their wives and once the knot had been tied, they pulled back on all effort. They no longer initiated romance or tried to make their wives feel praised, seen, and valued. A marriage thrives only when both partners endeavor to make each other happy and loved, something that these men forgot to do.

Managing Finances Solely

These men managed finances and made pertinent decisions alone, without taking their wives’ opinions into account. They remained secretive, guarded, and repressed in their financial plans, treating their wives like outsiders. This made these women feel as though they were strangers in their own homes, and the trust that they had for their husbands vanished completely.

Seeing Their Feelings as Too Much

These men called their women overly dramatic. They treated all of their feelings with open ridicule and upbraided them as being too sensitive or too much when they tried to express their feelings. With time, women started feeling unappreciated, unheard, and unseen, all of which culminated in their marriages imploding.

Resisting Any Self-Improvement

These women reported that their husbands refused any and all attempts that they initiated for growth and development in their marriages. They didn’t agree to go to counseling, rejected feedback, and considered growth to be harmful and offensive instead of a chance for improvement. This caused their relationships to grow stagnant and eventually shatter.

Not Protecting the Relationship from External Influence

These men openly discussed their intimate and personal matters with friends, family members, and even colleagues, instead of talking them out with their wives. This showed to their wives that their husbands didn’t value them or their marriage in the least.

Thinking that Money Was Enough

These women report that their ex-husbands were incredibly reliable when it came to financial responsibility. However, they seemed to have forgotten that just money isn’t enough to sustain a marriage. The latter needs a steady infusion of love, understanding, praise, and growth to keep it strong and intact, something that these men forgot.

Not Growing Together

These women say that their ex-husbands weren’t interested in pursuing shared growth in the marriage. They saw the changes that were rapidly manifesting in their lives, like careers, struggles, kids, and more, and yet they chose to not adapt to them. They let these shifts grow till they became too huge to traverse. This created an emotional imbalance in the relationship that ended up destroying it.

Not Wanting to Understand Them

These men didn’t want to, nor did they attempt to understand their wives. Instead, they treated them like a project, one that they had to manage. They forgot that their wives were human beings who had their own dreams, preferences, quirks, and aspirations. They stopped trying to understand them as unique persons and this utter nonchalance ruined their marriages.

Final Thoughts

These women say that while their divorces happened because their husbands grew cold and distant, it wasn’t always so. They say that it was the neglect that appeared when their husbands started taking them for granted that was to blame. That was the reason that their marriages fell apart.
