One thing some people think about when dating a single dad is that it’s complicated. No one wants to deal with a crazy ex-wife, anyway. However, these dads bring more to the table than juice boxes and carpool schedules. In the world of mixed signals and half-hearted efforts, they have emotional depth, charm, and a whole lot of heart. Here are reasons why dating single dads might surprise you for all the right reasons:

If you’re a parent, you know how busy your schedule might be. You might have to do a rain check or maybe stress about rushing in to clean up the toy cars scattered in your living room when he comes over. If you’re dating a single dad, he’ll get it. Parents’ lifestyles are similar, so he has lived in that situation too. You don’t need to get worried, he’ll get mad for rescheduling dates because he knows how you feel, and if things get a little heavy, he’ll know how to comfort you.
